IYHL FACT SHEET

WHAT:  The Irish Youth Hockey League is a nonprofit organization that provides ice hockey for boys and girls ranging from ages 4 to 14.

WHO:  Although our skaters are primarily from South Bend/Mishawaka, many travel from Goshen, Elkhart, Granger and some from Valparaiso, LaPorte, Niles, and St. Joseph, Michigan. Currently there are over 500 skaters participating in our program on approximately 40 house teams and 7 travel teams.

Age categories are as follows: Learn to Play, 6U (age 4-6), 8U (age 7-8), 10U (age 9-10), 12U (age 11-12), and 14U (age 13-14).

We have many options for our players/families:

House -  Our players compete against each other on teams internally.

Selects  - Part time travel players, who play in our House League, but have an additional practice and tournaments.

Rovers and Shamrocks - Full-time travel players who compete in the Northern Illinios Hockey League.  

Both Full and Part Time Travel teams play compete in the Indiana State Tournament.

WHERE:  IYHL house and travel teams practice at the Ice Box and the Compton Family Ice Arena on the Notre Dame campus. Games are played at the Ice Box and Notre Dame with rink costs ranging from $400-$500 per hour.

WHEN:  House and Selects Hockey lasts from mid-October to early-March.  Rovers and Shamrocks start in September and wrap up at the end of February.

WHY:  Why do we need sponsors? Without sponsorship to supplement the overall cost, many children in our area will not have the opportunity to participate in the great sport of hockey. We truly appreciate our sponsors.
